Well, That's Weird: Cryptids

A 15-Foot Beaked Sea Monster Washed Up in 1983

Cryptids are creatures people report but science has never confirmed. In each episode Poss Jonah tells where the legend comes from, what people say they saw, and what a sensible explanation might be, then lets you decide.

The story

In 1983, a 15-year-old boy found a 15-foot sea creature on a beach in Africa. He had a long beak, the creature, not the boy, 80 teeth and four flippers. That's important, four flippers. It was June 12th on Bungalow Beach in the Gambia. The boy, Owen Burnham, was on holiday with his family. He described it as dark on top, white underneath, with small eyes, a dome forehead, and a 5 foot tail with no fluke and no blowhole he could see.

But two fishermen were already cutting it off its head to sell to a tourist. Now who wants that for a souvenir? Well, who knows, but no specimen survived. Well, the fishermen, they said it was a dolphin, so why are you cutting its head off? But, one cryptozoologist argued it could be a surviving prehistoric sea reptile.

and skeptics say a rotting whale or dolphin loses its fins and tail flukes first and bloats up and it was already stinking but it had four flippers, dude. Was it a monster, or just a sea critter past its prime? Well, you decide. But as for me, you stay out that ocean, Jack, cause there's all kind of monsters in that thing just waiting to eat you.

Well, I'm Poss Jonah. Well, That's Weird.
