True, odd moments from history, told short and checked against at least two sources.
The story
(18) An octopus broke out of his tank, crossed the floor, and went down a drain to the ocean. (16) Meet Inky, a common New Zealand octopus at the National Aquarium in Napier. (16) Early in twenty sixteen, staff say a lid was left slightly open after maintenance. (24) Inky squeezed through a small gap, slid across the floor, and found a drainpipe about six inches wide that led to the sea.
(18) Staff followed wet octopus tracks. His tank-mate stayed put. Inky was never seen again. (18) Octopuses can squeeze through anything bigger than their beak, the only hard part of the body. (14) What really happened? A curious octopus took the shortcut home. Staff hope he's doing fine.
