Well, That's Weird: Cryptids

Lagarfljót Worm

Cryptids are creatures people report but science has never confirmed. In each episode Poss Jonah tells where the legend comes from, what people say they saw, and what a sensible explanation might be, then lets you decide.

The story

In 2012 An Icelandic panel voted seven to six that a lake monster video was real. and it paid the man who shot it. Meet the Lagarfljót Worm, a many-humped serpent longer than a bus found in a murky lake in east Iceland. Now sightings go back to 1345. And a 1585 map even marks the lake and says, in this lake appears a large serpent.

Now the folk tale says a girl set her gold ring under a little slug to make the gold grow. You reckon that works? Now the slug grew instead. She threw it in the lake and it just kept on growing. And in 1983 a crew laying telephone cable pulled the cable back up twisted and torn in twenty-two places.

What are you supposed to do with that? Then came the 2012 video, something long swimming in icy water. But a frame by frame look found it never moved forward Sure, sure. Maybe just a frozen fishing net in the current is what they think. Oh, I don't I don't think so Now, still, a 2014 truth commission saw no reason to doubt the creature exists, because he's real!

Well, nah, but you decide. I'm Poss Jonah. Well, that's weird.
